SKIN PEELS

Skin Peel Treatment

A skin peel is a procedure in which a chemical or natural solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers. The skin that grows back is smoother and rejuvenated. With a light or medium peel, multiple sessions may be needed to achieve the desired results.

Skin peels are commonly used to treat wrinkles, discolored skin, and scars, typically on the face. They can be performed alone or in combination with other cosmetic procedures. The depth of the peel can vary from light to deep, with deeper peels offering more dramatic results but requiring longer recovery times.

After any chemical peel, the skin may feel red, tight, irritated, or swollen. Follow your aesthetician's advice for sun protection, cleansing, moisturizing, and applying any protective ointments. Avoid picking or rubbing the skin, as it may take several weeks for your skin to return to normal and for the full results to be visible.

Benefits of Chemical Skin Peels:

Chemical peels can improve a variety of skin issues. Some of the most common concerns they help address include:

Acne

Acne is a common inflammatory skin condition. Chemical peels can assist in:

  • Breaking down comedones (plugged hair follicles)
  • Decreasing oil production
  • Killing bacteria
  • Reducing inflammation
  • Improving absorption of topical treatments

Light and medium chemical peels are commonly used to treat acne.

Acne Scars

Acne scars form when the skin attempts to heal itself, creating either hypertrophic (raised) or atrophic (depressed) scars. A chemical peel exfoliates the top layer of skin to remove excess collagen, helping reduce the appearance of these scars. Medium chemical peels are typically recommended for acne scars.

Rosacea

Rosacea is an inflammatory skin condition causing redness, swelling, and red bumps. A chemical peel may help relieve symptoms of mild to moderate rosacea, including acne-like breakouts.

Aging Skin

Chemical peels can reduce signs of aging, such as:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Age spots
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Roughness
  • Dryness
  • Liver spots

The skin that grows back after a chemical peel stimulates collagen and elastin production, making the skin smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking.

Hyperpigmentation:

Chemical peels can improve various types of hyperpigmentation.
